Travel to Asia has become of great appeal to the global market in recent times. No longer is Asia considered only for the hardy. A natural flow of travellers to the countries of Indochina. With several very important milestones in the last few years - such as lifting of embargoes, government reforms and the opening of borders - Vietnam is positioned to become a popular tourist destination.
It is a little known fact that Vietnam can cater to a large variety of clients - not just those looking to “rough it on the last frontier”. From its natural assets; pristine sandy beaches, the wonder of limestone islands in Halong Bay, the mountainous north, to its historical marvels; Cham ruins from the 14th Century in My Son, the ancient tombs of Hue; bustling cities with an energy driven by a new economy, quiet country villages reliant on rice agriculture as they have been for centuries, ornate Confucian temples, high-rises side by side with splendid French colonial architecture; Vietnam is a country of contrasts. And contrast means a greater variety of travel experiences that satisfy a great number of client markets.
It is also largely assumed that infrastructure within Vietnam is poor. Whilst we won’t deny that Vietnam is a third world country, one should not be led to believe that this means third world service! An enormous amount of investment in Vietnam has led to the development of top class hotels, of training schools, of new restaurants, of upgrading and renovating.
And on the subject of service, remember most importantly that Vietnam is Asia - where service is delivered with pride. The Vietnamese people have strong beliefs and values. They are a pragmatic people, with a philosophy to move forward, not to dwell on the past, and a determination to improve the lives of their children. Most of all they are warm and welcoming, and proud to show you their homeland. For an experience as unique as your clients, look to a destination as unique as Vietnam.
Vietnam has three international airports at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.Regular flights from all Southeast Asian,Middle-East,Central Asian and European countries are available for Vietnam. Vietnam can also be reached through train from Beijing.
Due to the geographical length of the country there is large difference between the latitudes of north and south Vietnam. Therefore the northern portion experiences sub-tropical type climate and the southern portion experiences tropical/equatorial type of climate. The temperature varies from region to region. North Vietnam has four seasons named-chilly winter, wet summer, pleasant spring and autumn. Central Vietnam experiences hot and dry weather from mid-January to late-August and strong winds and shower from October to November. South Vietnam has three seasons-hot and dry summer, rainy season and cool and dry winters.
It is very difficult to analyse the correct timings for travelling whole Vietnam however this can be done for the regions. Ideal time to travel in mountainous North Vietnam (Sapa) is during summer and autumn. Ideal time for travelling in Hanoi region is again spring and autumn. Ideal time to travel in Central Vietnam is from January to August. Winter season(December to February) is the best time to visit South Vietnam.
Ha Long Bay is situated in the North Vietnam around the 120 kilometre long coast line. The bay features 1,600 limestone islands and covers an area of 1500sq km.Kayaking and road rides can be taken in the bay. The bay was also declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, is a city in southern Vietnam famous for its role played in the Vietnam War. It is also known for its French colonial architecture, including Notre-Dame Basilica, made entirely of materials imported from France, and the neoclassical Saigon Central Post Office. Food stalls line the city’s streets, especially around bustling Ben Thanh Market.
Sapa is a mountainous area in the northwest portion of Vietnam. The weather is mostly cool here and trekking can be done in its hills.
Being the capital of Vietnam for almost a thousand years, Hanoi is considered one of the main cultural centres of Vietnam. The Old Quarter, Temple of Literature, One Pillar Pagoda, Flag Tower of Hanoi, St Joseph’s Cathedral, and Hanoi Citadel boasts of its 1,000 years history. Sometimes called the “city of lakes”, has many scenic lakes, among which Hoan Kiem Lake and West Lake are most popular. It is also home to a number of museums- National Museum of Vietnamese History, Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts, to name a few.
